The Last Lonely Saturday

At Fat Jack's Comicrypt I bought a little book called The Last Lonely Saturday, by Jordan Crane. It might be the sweetest thing I've ever read, but sweetness with a dark shadow (the best kind). The drawings are almost Harold and the Purple Crayon simple, done in bright yellow with purplish lines. A little old man writes a letter to his wife, then puts it with a stack of others and goes to visit his wife's grave. My favorite part: he buys her a bunch of flowers and carefully seatbelts it into the passenger seat. It's called a "graphic novella" but is really just a little short story. If you see it in a bookstore, pick it up and read it.
